Angkor Wat, Siem Reap

Angkor Wat is a temple complex at Angkor, Cambodia, built for the king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation — first Hindu, dedicated to the god Vishnu, then Buddhist. It is the world's largest religious building. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors. Read more at wiki DSCN2871 DSCN4272 DSCN2880 DSCN4277 DSCN2890 DSCN2893 DSCN2909 a lot of owl and birds staying in here at night. so have to put this to prevent the dirty stuff dropping onto tourists' head IMG_5165 The stairs that built for tourists to climb out to the highest floor. IMG_5163 This is where last time the king climbed up from. The stairs is so big and steep DSCN2914 The king have to clean himself in here 1st before meeting the deity DSCN2917 oh btw, reminder to everyone who wants to go up to the highest floor, attire must be neat. pants or skirt must be at least knee length, and shirt with sleeves. if you think it is too hot to wear more on the hot day and wants to wear shorts so much, I would suggest you to buy or bring a pashma/scarf along. Then you can just wrap it around your waist if needed. Angkor Wat actually is a temple which is unfinished. This can proved by the carving. because some of them carved till halfway only. Probably the king died before the temple done so all the working were canceled. IMG_5182 Can see the lower part is done but the upper part not yet. IMG_5183 This is just the draft of a female deity IMG_5184 I love this place. I wonder how they build this huge temple with all those well decorated wall and so on. I really respect them. with love
