Miraku Japanese Restaurant, Paradigm Mall

If you are a fan of Japanese food, you are reading the right post.

Many thanks to Miraku Japanese Restaurant for inviting us to this very awesome food review. I have heard a lot of good comments about Miraku, and I can’t wait to try it! Miraku Japanese Restaurant opened its first outlet in Penang, and this time, they have come to PJ area! This is definitely a good news for us who stay in KL and PJ area and would love to try the authentic taste of Japanese cuisine.

The appetiser. I like the seaweed very much. A tips for you all: must eat the whole plate together if you are using chopsticks. If not you will end up like me who gotta ask for spoon and fork or just pour the whole plate in. Oh but if you are excellent in using chopsticks, maybe you can try to pick it up one by one. Good luck hahaha

Dobin Mushi RM 18. The first time I had something similar was in Yuzu. But of course their taste are different. The taste here is more plain.

Soba Salad RM 13 (S). Soba is served in cold. Some people might not like it but I personally love it. Hence this dish is one of my favourite in Miraku now

Miraku Salad at RM 28 (S). Among the 3 salads served, this is the best. Salmon and salads just match so well with the right sauce.

Annin tofu (RM8). It has a very strong almond taste. If you love almond, you will love this dessert very much too.

Sweet Cheese Tofu RM10. Its texture is a mixture of cheese tofu. Hence you can expect a very smooth texture. It is kind of like yoghurt though. The berry jam matched pretty well with the cheese  tofu.

The Wasabi ice cream (RM10) have a very interesting taste. When you just put it into your mouth, it has a pretty strong Wasabi aroma but soon after it will turn to the spicy taste. So it is actually a mixture of spicy, sweet, Wasabi aroma and is cold. It is very hard to imagine this unique taste. You gotta try it *wink*  Some people love it, but I am not a fan of Wasabi.

Peruvian Gastronomic Week at Cesar’s, The Ritz-Carlton KL

Having my first guest post from the famous travel and food blogger – Wilson Ng from placesandfoods.com ! Thank you very much for inviting, this is my first time trying Peruvian dishes and I find the taste is really interesting.

This is now the Peruvian Gastronomic Week and it is happening now in Kuala Lumpur. From 10th October to 16th October, Peruvian Gastronomic Week is a showcase of the best of Peruvian food and it is only available at Cesar’s at The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur.

It was unfortunate that I couldn’t review the Peruvian Gastronomic Week as early as possible as I was tied up with other reviews and also work commitments. However there are still a few more days so you still can book your seats for this rare opportunity to try out a feast of Peruvian food.

It has been a hectic month of October for me. So far I had review six MIGF 2012 menus in this past two weeks, Oktoberfest and also followed by a few more restaurant reviews. I never had such a great October for a long time.

I never been to Peru but I visited Latin America before. I was traveling in Argentina for a month in 2010 and I enjoyed the food and culture there. Peru is popular with Machu Picchu, one of the greatest places to visit in South America. On other hand, Peru is also popular with its food and the love for food.

For the Peruvian Gastronomic Week, Ritz Carlton KL specially flew three chefs from Peru. However, I managed to meet Chef Rafael Lopez-Aliaga during my visit and it was my first time dining in Cesar’s at Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur. They were flown in via Dutch carrier KLM, one of the best airlines to fly with to South America since Malaysia Airlines halted their Buenos Aires route some time ago.

The Cesar’s in Ritz Carlton KL offers a very comfortable and classy interior with soft lightings and beautiful setting. You can experience of the best hospitality there with waiters and waitresses making sure you are in good hands.

Pisco sour

Peruvian Gastronomic Week is a Peruvian buffet style that comes with two complimentary cocktail of Pisco sour. The Pisco sour was a combination of Pisco liquor (grape brandy) as base with sugar cubes and fresh lime ice and topped with sour tea and egg white foam. The cocktail had a strong flavour but it had a sweet base with sour topping.  I would love to have more than two.

If cocktail is not your forte, they served mocktail by the name of Chica. When I asked the waiter what was Chica, he explained it as simple as possible, he said it tasted like Ribena. It had the similarities but tasted better than Ribena.

Like Asians, Peruvians loved to eat rice. Instead of plain rice, they served rice with corn. It gave a slight sweet taste onto the rice.

Sun Dried Potato, Chicken and Peanut stew.
It was interesting to taste dish like Sun Dried Potato, Chicken and Peanut stew. Chicken was cut into cubes and the peanuts were soft and it was not as nutty as I thought.

The rice and bean cakes, it was a mashed combination of rice and beans together.

Aji de Gallina
Aji de Gallina was the chicken with creamy yellow chilli sauce. This was one of my favourites of the night. The chicken cubes were cooked to softness and it was very creamy but had hints of the chilli sauce and it was not spicy at all. The peas were there to give an extra texture to the creamy dish.

Seco de Carne.

The beef stew with cilantro or also known as Seco de Carne. The beef was cooked to tenderness and it had gentle flavour of cilantro. You might realize that there were quite a number of dishes using stew method and also they loved to cook chicken too.

Fish with spicy seafood sauce

Fish with spicy seafood sauce was another darling. I noticed they put spicy in some of their dishes but they were not spicy at all. This was mouthful. It had clamps, prawns, shredded chicken and hints of chili. This was palatable.

Peruvian ceviche
After the main, we moved to the famous Peruvian ceviche. Ceviche is a seafood dish that is popular in South America and its origin is unknown. It was only at this time, I got the chance to savour the ceviche or else you need to take more than 20 hours of flight to taste them in Peru.

It wasn’t done yet. In fact, I didn’t forget about the desserts. They had some of the best Peruvian desserts with cranky flavours. Well some of them were Chirimoya, orange and meringue, Sweet milk pudding, Rice pudding, Lucama Crunch and many more.

Pecans, Dried Fruits served with Crispy Bread and Cheese was my favourite.  It was a great combination of flavours with different types of textures. I had a few of these.

Dining at Cesar’s for Peruvian Gastronomic Week was a learning curve for me. It was an adventure of Peruvian gastronomy that you might not want to miss. There were many other dishes that I didn’t manage to sample too so I was spoilt for choices.

I’m writing this at 6.50 in the morning. So now you know how excited am I to share this news with all of you! And, you better love me more now.

The most exciting party of the year is back ! It is nonetheless, the famous Where’s The Party? by Carlsberg! I heard you screaming in excitement, so do I ! This time, Where’s The Party? going to be held on 10 November till 11 November, it is a by-invitation only 2 days 1 night trip. And the venue? Duhh! Thats the mysterious and fun part of it. This is the 3rd installation and I am sure it is going to be legen-wait for it-dary !

The main objective of Where’s The Party? is to give Carlsberg consumers the opportunity to step up to the challenge and create memorable, inspiring moments and unforgettable experiences. Even until now, I still keep thinking about  all the awesome moments I had during the last two Where’s The Party? with my friends. It was so much fun. Take a guess where’s the party this year? I am hoping it will be at the beach ^^

Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest @ 1 Utama

Ok I promise this is the last party before my finals.. I just, can’t missed any of the Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest’s party! This time I went to 1 Utama last Saturday. As I got the experience from last year party, I am wearing something casual and cooling instead. You know, party just get hotter and hotter every time :p

The counter to encourage consumers to test their BAC (Breath Alcohol Content) as part of its efforts in increasing knowledge and awareness amongst consumers on the significance of responsible drinking. We all know that if you drink, don’t drive. If you drive, don’t drink.

If you are wondering what beer is available in Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest, here you go:

Carlsberg (5% ABV/ alcohol), a lager beer founded by J.C. Jacobsen in 1847 and is an international beer originating from Denmark.

Erdinger Weissbier (5.3% ABV), pioneered in the 70′s, was the first German wheat to be distributed nationwide in Germany. Erdinger is brewed according to traditional recipes and has no preservatives, additives and pasteurization, complying with the Bavarian Purity Law 1516.

Franziskaner Weissbier (5% ABV), a traditional Bavarian wheat beer with more than 600 years of history, is refreshing and aromatic in character. This Bavarian beer is naturally cloudy and copper-coloured and enhanced with a sweet malt taste with a smooth creamy texture for finish.

Lowenbrau, (5.2% ABV), an original “German Munich Beer”, is famous at Oktoberfests. It is a lager beer that is refreshing with a taste of malt and mild hop bitterness. The beer is light to the taste, bright golden yellow in colour, and truly complements the Bavarian drinking experience.
